How to play GTA IV Online

* Files you need:
o Hamachi 1.0.3.0 (Free)

o Live Hamachi Force (registry file to force games for windows 'live' using hamachi)

o GTA IV Patch 1.0.1.0 (you need this if you want to play with other people that have patched aswell!) *IMPORTANT!*

* Ports:
If you know how to open your ports (CORRECTLY!)

o 1337 (TCP & UDP)
o 7777 (TCP & UDP)
o 3704 (TCP & UDP)

Open these ports in your router (if) and in Windows.

You can check these ports with

http://whatsmyip.org/ports

Use the 'Custom Port Test' and test them with the ports above.
If you get a Open or Closed message your good to go, if you get a Time-out message then you might have done something wrong.

* Hamachi:
Install Hamachi, and run the registry fix.
Make sure you allow Hamachi through your firewall on both the UDP and TCP ports.

When you're done with installing go to

Preferences ->
Status Tab ->
Detailed configuration - >
UDP = 1337
TCP = 7777
And hit OK



* Setting up your network:

* Almost done, Join an Hamachi network:
Join a network in Hamachi.

Do not forget the registry file, which forces 'Games for Windows Live' to use the Hamachi network!

* Join or Create a game:

* Ping issue:
Most of the people can't play after doing the tutorial, this is probably a ping issue.
This explains why we can play together easily, as Dutch players.
We have fast connections and live 'close' to each other, The max ping is probably 20 or 25 ms or perhaps even lower!

So try to play with people from within your city, and ping them in Hamachi and see what ping results you get.
Try to host or join each other when you have a ping of ~20ms.

Until there is a solution to lower the ping limit, there is no way to play with each other trough Hamachi.
I've done a quick search trough some game files of GTA IV, but couldn't find any ping limits of some kind.
Maybe a programmer could make something to fix this Wink



REMEMEBER! YOU'RE ABLE TO PLAY ONLY ON SERVERS WITH LOWER PING THAN 30 or 40.
YOU CAN HOST AS WELL BUT ONLY PEOPLE WITH LOW PING CAN CONNECT.
OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE MOVED BACK TO LOBBY.

I am able to play on official l0gin.com server - already played few times with random people.
