How to Create Video Games for Xbox 360

Everyone has the dream of designing their own games for their preferred gaming system--in this case the XBOX 360. While not just anyone can sit down and grind out the next bestseller on the XBOX Live Arcade, Microsoft has made it so those with the skill to make the next great hit have a fighting chance to make it happen.

Instructions

Have some training. Unless you are some kind of never-before-seen genius, opportunities are you won't be capable to simply throw together a video game. In fact, without special training, you would be hard-pressed to develop anything usable in any walk of life--and not just the video game field. Several colleges offer training in video game design, such as the University of Southern California. Other learning institutes, such as DeVry, also offer training in the field. If you don't already know how to do it, enroll somewhere and learn how to program.

Download the proper software. Microsoft has made available the XNA Developer Center software on its website. The program allows anyone to utilise Microsoft-approved tools to create new games for the XBOX Live Arcade. This software is free. In order to develop, debug and try your creation on an actual XBOX 360, you must buy a membership to the XNA Creators Club, which costs $99 per year or $49 for 4 months.

Try your work. That subscription to the XNA Creators Club is getting to come in handy right now. Allow your friends to play , let some other developers play, let anyone play who has the time. The only way your work is going to be good enough for people to want to play it is you have to let people play it. Work out the kinks with minutes and hours of game play. It will fix your game, and your friends will love playing what could be the next great thing.

Publish. The same XNA Creators Club membership that allows you to test your game also allows you to publish your game for purchase. Creators can set a price of 200, 400 or 800 MS points for purchase; and any other member of the XNA Creators Club can purchase the games.
